When you need a PDF as an image
Some portals and apps accept only images: a profile or document photo upload, a social media post, a WhatsApp status, or a slide in a presentation. Converting the page to JPG lets you send a single page of a contract, a ticket, a certificate or a payslip without sharing the whole PDF. It is also the easiest way to show a page to someone whose phone does not open PDFs well.
Choosing JPG or PNG and the right DPI
JPG gives small files and suits pages with photos or colour. PNG keeps text and lines perfectly sharp and is better for forms, drawings and screenshots, but the files are larger. DPI sets how many pixels are made for every inch of the page. 72 DPI is enough to view on a phone, 150 DPI is clear on any screen and fine for most uploads, and 300 DPI is print quality: an A4 page becomes about 2480 by 3508 pixels. If a portal limits the file size, choose JPG at 150 DPI.
Converting only some pages
A 40-page bank statement or report rarely needs to become 40 images. Choose "Only these pages" and type the page numbers, using commas and dashes, such as 2 or 1-3, 7. The images are named after your PDF and the page number, for example statement-page-7.jpg, so they stay in order in your gallery or folder. When you convert several pages they download together in one ZIP file, and each page can also be downloaded on its own.
Private: rendered by your own browser
The pages are drawn by pdf.js, the open-source PDF engine built into Firefox, running inside this page. The PDF is not uploaded to NeedMyTools or anyone else, which matters for bank statements, contracts and ID scans. There is no account, no watermark and no page limit, though very large documents at 300 DPI need a lot of memory, so on an older phone convert them a few pages at a time. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
