What this free PDF editor does

Many free online PDF editors only let you put new text boxes on top of the page, add a watermark to the result, limit how many files you can edit, or ask you to sign up first. This editor works differently:

  • Click any English word already in the PDF and retype it. It is written in a font with the same letter widths and saved as real, searchable text.
  • Edit word by word or a whole line at once, and use Shrink to fit when the new text is longer.
  • Fill in fillable forms. Your answers go into the form's own fields, so the file stays fillable in other PDF readers.
  • Type on printed forms that have no fields, and tick printed check boxes with one click.
  • Add Arabic text, written right to left with joined letters.
  • Add a logo, a stamp or your drawn signature.
  • Your file is edited on your device and never uploaded. No sign-up, no watermark and no limit on files.

Edit the text already in your PDF

With Edit text switched on, every word on the page is highlighted. Click one and type the new word, or switch to Lines to change a whole line at once. The editor covers the old text with the colour around it and writes the new text at the same position and size. It picks a free font with the same letter widths as the original: Carlito for Calibri, Caladea for Cambria, and Liberation Sans, Serif and Mono for Arial, Times New Roman and Courier New. Bold and italic are kept, and you can change the font, size or colour. If your new text is longer, Shrink to fit keeps it inside the old width. The edited text is saved as real text, so it can be selected and searched.

Limits of editing existing text

Editing works word by word or line by line on English and other Latin text in PDFs made from Word, Excel, Chrome or other software. The font is a close look-alike, not always the exact original, because most PDFs carry only part of their fonts. Longer text does not push the rest of a paragraph down as it would in Word. Scanned pages are pictures with no text to click, so cover and retype them instead. Editing existing Arabic text is coming in a later version; you can already add new Arabic text. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.

Fill in PDF forms and tick boxes

If the PDF is a fillable form, its fields are shaded blue: click a field and type, tick check boxes and pick options from lists. The values are saved into the form's own fields, so the file stays fillable and other PDF readers show and edit the same values. Printed forms without fields work too: click any blank line or box and type, and click an empty tick box printed on the page to tick it, or use the Tick button to place a tick anywhere. Fillable fields take English and other Latin letters; Arabic typed into a field is saved as a picture of the text over the field.

Add text, images and signatures

Add new text anywhere on any page, in any size or colour, including Arabic, which is laid out right to left. English text you add is saved as real text. Arabic is saved as a sharp image so it looks right in every viewer. Add a company logo, a scanned stamp or a photo, and sign with your finger on a phone or with a mouse. Everything you add can be moved and resized until you download.

Edits and white-out are not redaction

When you change existing text or use white-out, the old words are hidden on screen and on paper, but they stay inside the file and can still be copied or extracted. Do not use this to remove confidential information such as Emirates ID or passport numbers, bank details or salaries before sharing a file. For that you need a redaction tool that deletes the content itself.

Signing PDFs

A drawn signature is an image of your signature, like signing a printed page and scanning it. It is accepted for many everyday documents such as offer letters, tenancy forms and school forms. It is not a certified digital signature such as UAE Pass, which some government and legal processes require. Check what the receiver accepts.

Private and free

Your PDF is opened and saved inside your browser, so contracts, bank statements and ID copies never leave your device. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you edit.

Frequently asked questions

How do I edit text in a PDF for free?

Open the PDF above, click the text you want to change, type the new words and download the edited PDF. There is no sign-up and no watermark.

Will the new text match the original font?

It uses a free font with the same letter widths, such as Carlito for Calibri or Liberation Sans for Arial, so it looks very close. The exact original font is not always available, because most PDFs include only part of it.

Can I edit existing Arabic text in a PDF?

Not yet. You can add new Arabic text, which is written right to left with joined letters. Editing the Arabic already in a PDF is planned for a later version.

How do I sign a PDF on my phone?

Tap Sign, draw your signature with your finger, tap Use signature, then drag it into place and download.

Can I fill in a PDF form for free?

Yes. Open the form above. Fillable fields are shaded blue, so click them and type or tick. On a printed form without fields, click a blank line or box to type and click an empty tick box to tick it. Then download the filled PDF.
