Guides for living and working in the Gulf

Clear answers to the questions people in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Gulf search for every day: what you are owed when a job ends, what a new law means for your business, when Ramadan and Eid fall. Every guide is written from the official source, shows the date its facts were last checked, and links to a free tool that does the sum for you.

How we write our guides

Each guide starts from the law, decree or government page itself, such as the UAE Labour Law, the Saudi Labor Law, the Ministry of Finance or Human Resources websites, or official moon-sighting announcements. We quote the article or page we used and list every source at the end of the guide, so you can check it yourself. When a rule depends on your situation, we say so instead of guessing, and we point you to the authority that decides.

Dated, and checked again when rules change

Gulf rules change often: new e-invoicing deadlines, new leave rules, new fees. Every guide shows the date its facts were last checked, and we check them again when the authority publishes a change. If you spot something out of date, the date tells you how old the information is, and the official sources at the end of each guide always have the final word.

A guide explains, a tool calculates

Guides explain the rules in plain words; our free tools do the arithmetic. The end of service guide links to the gratuity and Saudi end of service calculators, the Ramadan guide links to the Hijri converter and the zakat calculator, and the e-invoicing guide links to the invoice generator. Every tool runs in your browser, needs no sign-up and adds no watermark.

English and Arabic

Every guide is written in English and Arabic. The Arabic versions are carefully written and are being reviewed by native Arabic speakers. For legal or religious matters, always rely on the official source or a qualified specialist, and treat our guides as a clear starting point, not as legal or religious advice.

Questions about our guides

Are these guides free?

Yes. Every guide and every tool on the site is free, with no sign-up and no paywall.

Is this legal advice?

No. The guides explain official rules in plain words and link to the official sources. For a decision about your own case, check with the relevant ministry, a court or a qualified lawyer.

How do I know a guide is up to date?

Each guide shows the date its facts were last checked, and lists the official sources it is based on so you can confirm them.

Which countries do you cover?

Mostly the UAE and Saudi Arabia for now, with more Gulf countries and topics being added.

Why does each guide link to a calculator?

Because most questions end in a number: how much gratuity, how much VAT, which Hijri date. The guide explains the rule and the linked tool works out your own figure in seconds.
