Quick answer

To convert Word to PDF, upload a DOCX, DOC, ODT or RTF file of up to 20 MB below and download the PDF a few seconds later. Fonts, tables and Arabic right-to-left text are kept, there is no watermark, and your file is deleted from our server as soon as the PDF is ready.

How to use the Word to PDF

  1. Tap "Choose a Word file" or drop a DOC, DOCX, ODT or RTF file onto the box. Files of up to 20 MB are accepted.
  2. Wait while the file uploads and converts. Most documents take a few seconds; long reports full of images can take up to a minute.
  3. When the PDF is ready, tap "Download PDF". It keeps the same name as your Word file.
  4. Open the PDF and look through it before you send it, especially if the document uses unusual fonts.

Why send a PDF instead of a Word file

A Word file looks different depending on who opens it and with what. Fonts get swapped, tables spill onto the next page and an Arabic paragraph can flip direction on a phone. A PDF fixes the layout: every page looks exactly as you saw it, on any device, and nobody can change it by accident. That is why visa portals, government e-services, banks, universities and HR departments across the GCC ask for PDF uploads, and why a CV, an offer letter or a quotation sent as PDF looks more professional.

How the conversion works

We use LibreOffice, the open-source office suite used by governments and companies worldwide, running on our own server. It opens your document much as Word does and prints it to PDF. Text stays selectable and searchable, links keep working, and headers, footers, page numbers, tables and images are kept. Arabic, Urdu and other right-to-left text is supported. Common Microsoft fonts such as Calibri, Cambria, Arial and Times New Roman are matched by open fonts with identical letter widths, so lines and pages break in the same places as in Word.

Your document and the daily limit

Word files cannot be read reliably inside a browser, so this converter sends your document over an encrypted connection to our own LibreOffice server, not to an outside service. CVs, contracts and offer letters often carry personal details, so the file is processed in temporary memory, deleted as soon as the PDF comes back, and its name is never logged. Documents can be up to 20 MB, one at a time, and you get 20 successful conversions a day across our four Office conversion tools, reset at midnight UAE time (UTC+4). Unlock password-protected documents first. Macros never run, and failed conversions are not counted.

If the PDF does not look right

The most common cause is a font we do not have. A similar font is used instead, and lines can break in slightly different places. To avoid it, use standard fonts, or tick "Embed fonts in the file" under File, Options, Save in Word before uploading. Floating text boxes, SmartArt and old WordArt can also shift a little. Always open the PDF and check it before you submit it anywhere important.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Word to PDF converter really free?

Yes. There is no signup, no watermark, no trial and no "pay to download" step. The only limits are the 20 MB file size and 20 conversions a day, both shown before you upload, and they exist because the conversion runs on our own server.

Do you keep a copy of my document?

No. The document is deleted as soon as the PDF is sent back, and the server keeps only an anonymous count of conversions, never the file or its name.

Will my Arabic document convert correctly?

Yes. Right-to-left direction, joined letters and Arabic-Indic digits are kept. If your document uses a special Arabic font that is not installed on our server, a standard Arabic font such as Amiri or Noto is used instead, which can change the look slightly but not the text.

Which Word formats can I convert?

DOCX from current versions of Word, DOC from Word 97 to 2003, ODT from LibreOffice and Google Docs exports, and RTF. Files must not be password-protected.

Can I convert several files at once?

Not yet. Convert one file at a time; each successful conversion counts as one of your 20 for the day. If you need one PDF from several documents, convert each and then join them with our free Merge PDF tool.
