When to crop a PDF
Cropping is useful when a scanned document has wide margins or a dark border, when you want a shipping label or a receipt on its own page, when slides or e-books read better on a phone without the white space, or when a portal shows your upload too small because of empty borders. The text and images inside the box stay sharp because nothing is re-rendered.
All pages or one page
With All pages, the same area is kept on every page. If the pages are different sizes, the box keeps the same proportions on each page, so a 10% margin stays a 10% margin. Choose Only this page to crop a single page and leave the rest as they are. You can move between pages before saving to check that the box fits everywhere.
What cropping does and does not do
The tool sets the visible area of each page, which is how PDF cropping works in professional software too. Anything outside the box is hidden in every viewer and printer, but it is still stored in the file and can be recovered with editing tools. To remove private information for good, use proper redaction software rather than cropping or white-out. Cropping also does not make the file much smaller.
Private and free
Your PDF is opened and cropped on your phone or computer with a PDF library that runs in the browser. Nothing is sent to a server, there is no daily limit, and the download has no watermark. Password-protected PDFs need to be unlocked first.
