Counting days between two dates
By default the calculator counts the days from the start date up to, but not including, the end date, which is how durations and age are normally measured: from Monday to Tuesday is one day. Tick "Include the end date" when both the first and the last day count, such as the days of a leave request or an event that runs from one date to another. The result is also shown in years, months and days, where months are counted from the same day of the month, and as a total in weeks and months.
Working days and Gulf weekends
Since January 2022 the UAE federal government, and most private companies, work Monday to Friday with Saturday and Sunday off. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman keep a Friday and Saturday weekend, and many jobs in the region still run on a six-day week with only Friday off. Choose the weekend that matches your employer and the calculator counts only the working days. This is useful for notice periods, probation, delivery estimates and government processing times that are quoted in working days.
Adding days, months and working days to a date
In "Add or subtract" mode, enter a start date and a number. Adding months keeps the same day of the month, and moves to the last day of a shorter month: one month after 31 January is 28 February, or 29 February in a leap year. Adding working days skips the weekend you choose, so 5 working days after a Thursday in Saudi Arabia lands on the following Thursday. Use it to find when a 30-day notice period ends, when a 60-day visa grace period runs out, or when a payment that is due in 10 working days must be made.
Public holidays
The calculator does not remove public holidays from working days. Gulf holidays such as Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, the Islamic New Year and the Prophet's Birthday follow the Hijri calendar and are confirmed each year, sometimes only days in advance, and national days differ between countries. For a legal or contractual deadline, subtract the announced holidays yourself, or check the deadline with the authority or company that set it.
Accurate and private
Dates are calculated in your browser on calendar days, so time zones and daylight saving cannot shift a result by a day. We test the working-day count against a day-by-day count over more than a year. Nothing you enter is sent to our servers.
