Time zone converter and time difference

Pick a date and time in one place and see what the clock says in another, whether you are booking a call home from Dubai, a meeting between Riyadh and London, or a flight that lands after midnight. The six Gulf capitals and the home countries of many Gulf residents are ready to pick, and every other time zone is in the list too.

Quick answer

To find the time difference, set the date and time, choose where that time applies, and choose the place you want it in. For example, 9:00 am in Dubai (UTC+4) is 10:30 am in India (UTC+5:30), 10:00 am in Pakistan and 1:00 pm in Manila. The tool reads offsets and daylight saving rules from your browser.

Daylight saving time is applied from your browser’s time zone data. Nothing is sent anywhere.

How to use the Time Zone Converter

  1. Set the date and time, or press Now to start from the current time.
  2. In From, choose the place where that time applies; in To, choose the place you want to know about. The swap button reverses them.
  3. Read the converted time, date and UTC offset, then check the table for the same moment in every Gulf city and home country.

Gulf time zones at a glance

The UAE and Oman use Gulf Standard Time, four hours ahead of UTC. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain are three hours ahead of UTC, so Riyadh, Doha, Kuwait City and Manama are one hour behind Dubai and Muscat. None of the six countries changes its clocks for summer, which keeps the gaps between them fixed all year.

Calling home: India, Pakistan, Nepal and more

India is five and a half hours ahead of UTC, so it is 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of Dubai and 2 hours 30 minutes ahead of Riyadh. Nepal adds a further quarter of an hour at UTC+5:45. Pakistan is on UTC+5 and Bangladesh on UTC+6, while the Philippines is on UTC+8, four hours ahead of the UAE. Half-hour and quarter-hour offsets are easy to get wrong in your head, which is where the converter helps.

Daylight saving time: the UK and Egypt

The UK moves its clocks forward one hour on the last Sunday of March and back on the last Sunday of October, so London is three hours behind Dubai in summer and four in winter. Egypt brought back summer time in 2023, running from late April to late October. The converter does not rely on a fixed table: it asks your browser, whose time zone data is updated with the operating system, for the offset on the exact date you entered.

Times that are skipped or happen twice

When clocks spring forward, an hour of local time never happens; when they fall back, an hour happens twice. If you enter a skipped time, such as 1:30 am in London on the last Sunday of March, the tool says so and uses the moment just after the change. For a repeated time it uses the first occurrence. Gulf times are never affected, because the region does not change its clocks.

Privacy, accuracy and limits

Everything runs in your browser: no account, no record of the times you enter, and no limit on use. Accuracy depends on your browser’s time zone data, which covers past and future dates as far as governments have announced them; if a country changes its rules at short notice, an out-of-date browser may lag until it updates. Frequently asked questions

What is the time difference between the UAE and India?

India is 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of the UAE all year, because neither country uses daylight saving. When it is 12:00 noon in Dubai, it is 1:30 pm in Delhi and Mumbai.

Is Saudi Arabia in the same time zone as Dubai?

No. Saudi Arabia is on UTC+3 and the UAE on UTC+4, so Riyadh and Jeddah are one hour behind Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain share Saudi time, and Oman shares UAE time.

How far behind the Gulf is the UK?

London is three hours behind Dubai and two hours behind Riyadh during British Summer Time, from late March to late October. In winter the gaps grow to four and three hours.

Do Gulf countries change their clocks for summer?

No. The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain keep the same time all year. The difference with them only changes when the other country, such as the UK or Egypt, moves its clocks.

Why does the converted time say next day?

Converting a late-evening time eastward, or an early-morning time westward, can cross midnight. 11:00 pm in Riyadh, for example, is already 4:00 am the next day in Manila, and the converter shows the new date so you do not miss a call or a flight.
