Typing items quickly
The quick add box reads a quantity and a unit at the start or the end of a line: “2 kg tomatoes”, “rice 5 kg”, “milk x2” and “3 bread” all work, and so do common units such as g, l, ml, pack, bottle, can, box and dozen. Arabic works the same way, with words such as كيلو, لتر, علبة and حبة, and numbers in Arabic-Indic digits are read too. The item name decides the aisle: tomatoes go to fruit and vegetables, yogurt to dairy and eggs, and “orange juice” to drinks rather than fruit. Anything the tool does not recognise goes to Other, and you can change the aisle of any item.
Aisles in the order you walk the shop
Every shop is laid out differently, so the aisle order is yours to set. Move an aisle up or down and the list, the printout and the shared text all follow that order, which means one pass through the shop instead of doubling back for the milk. The order is saved with the list, so set it once for the shop you use most. Empty aisles are hidden, which keeps a short top-up list short.
Prices and a running total
Prices are optional. Enter the price for one unit and the quantity, and the line total is the two multiplied; with no quantity, the price counts once. The total, the amount already in your basket and the amount left update as you tick items, so you can see before the till whether you are within your budget. Amounts are added in the smallest unit of your currency, with three decimal places for currencies such as KWD, OMR and BHD, so the total does not drift by a fils or a cent. Items without a price are counted separately, and the tool tells you how many are missing. These are your own estimates: the till decides the real price.
On your phone in the shop
Shop mode hides the edit fields and turns each item into a large row you can tap with one thumb; ticked items are crossed out but stay in place, so the list does not jump while you shop. The list is saved in this browser as you go, so you can open the page at home, close it, and find it again in the shop on the same phone. Untick all reuses the same list next week, and Remove ticked clears what you bought.
Print, share or save the list
Print puts the list on one A4 page in two columns with a tick box per item. Share opens your phone’s share sheet so you can send the list as text to a messaging app; on a computer, Copy puts the same text on the clipboard and Download text saves it as a file. Download PNG saves an image of the list with the total. For the rest of the week, the chore chart generator and school timetable maker print the same way.
