Why convert PNG to JPG
PNG keeps every pixel exactly, which is great for logos and screenshots but makes photos and large screenshots heavy. A PNG screenshot from a phone is often 2 to 5 MB, while the same picture as a JPG at 90% quality is usually a few hundred kilobytes. Visa, Emirates ID and job application portals in the Gulf often limit uploads to 1 or 2 MB and some accept only JPG, so converting is the quickest way past the "file too large" or "format not allowed" message.
Choosing the right quality
The quality slider controls how hard the JPG is compressed. At 90% most people cannot tell the difference from the original, and the file is already much smaller. Drop to 70 or 80% when a portal has a strict size limit; text in a screenshot stays readable down to about 70%. Use 100% only when you need the best possible quality and do not mind a bigger file. The final size of each file is shown after converting, so you can try again with a different setting.
Transparent PNGs and the background colour
JPG has no transparency. If a PNG has see-through areas, such as a logo or a signature on a clear background, those areas must be filled with a solid colour. Many converters fill them with black, which ruins signatures and logos. This tool fills them with white by default, and you can pick any other colour to match the page or document where the image will go.
Private and unlimited
The conversion uses your browser's own image engine. The images are decoded and re-encoded in memory on your phone or computer, then saved straight to your device. Nothing is uploaded to NeedMyTools or anyone else, which matters for photos of passports, IDs and contracts. There is no account, no watermark and no daily limit, and once the page has loaded the tool works offline.
