Pakistan Government Services: NADRA, Passport Renewal, FBR, OEC and OPF

Pakistan’s federal services are spread across NADRA, the passport directorate, the tax board and the overseas employment bodies, and many of their sites block visitors from outside the country. This page lists what we could verify on 19 October 2026: sites we opened ourselves, plus exact addresses linked from official pages we opened (marked "verified through"). It is written for Pakistanis working in the Gulf and their families: ID cards, passports, protector and overseas jobs, tax filer status, welfare and where to complain.

Quick answer

Start at pakistan.gov.pk, the federal portal, which links passports, NADRA identity services, visas, tax registration, jobs and complaints. Passports, including online renewal for overseas Pakistanis, are with DGI&P (dgip.gov.pk), ID cards and NICOP with NADRA (nadra.gov.pk), tax with FBR (fbr.gov.pk and iris.fbr.gov.pk), protector guidance and government-to-government jobs with OEC (oec.gov.pk) and overseas welfare with OPF (opf.org.pk).

Before you use these sites

Protector: through the bank, never through a middleman

OEC’s guide says protector clearance is required before you travel for work, and that fees are paid through the bank, not in cash to any person. If an agent offers to "arrange" protector or a visa for cash, stop. Our Pakistan to Gulf guide explains OEP licences, legal fees and where to complain.

Check your filer status yourself

Whether you appear on the Active Taxpayer List affects tax on property and other transactions. IRIS lets anyone check the list by NTN, CNIC or passport number, free, so you do not need to pay anyone to "check" it. FBR also warns about fraudulent emails in its name.

Many sites block foreign visitors

NADRA, the visa system and several ministries refused our checker, which runs outside Pakistan, and may also be slow from the Gulf. That is not a sign the site is fake; check that the address ends in .gov.pk and came from pakistan.gov.pk before you enter your CNIC or pay anything.

Common questions

What is the official website for Pakistan government services?

pakistan.gov.pk, the Government of Pakistan portal. Its services page links the official sites for passports, NADRA identity cards, visas, tax and company registration, government jobs and online complaints.

How do I renew my Pakistan passport from Dubai?

DGI&P’s e-services include online passport renewal, with new categories for overseas Pakistanis: you create a login, upload your documents, pay by card, and the application is reviewed at headquarters before printing and dispatch, with status updates by email. Its helpline is +92-51-111-344-777. DGI&P lists 96 foreign missions in its network; the sites of Pakistan’s missions in the UAE did not open for our checker.

Who needs a protector stamp to work abroad?

According to OEC’s protector guide, every Pakistani travelling abroad for employment, including to the Gulf, needs protector clearance from the Protectorate of Emigrants; visitors, students and tourists do not.

How do I check if I am on FBR’s Active Taxpayer List?

Open iris.fbr.gov.pk, choose Online Verifications and then Active Taxpayer List (Income Tax), and enter your NTN, CNIC or passport number. The check is public and free.

Where can an overseas Pakistani complain about a federal department?

File with the Federal Ombudsman (mohtasib.gov.pk, helpline 1055), which has a grievance cell for overseas Pakistanis, or on the Pakistan Citizen’s Portal. For welfare problems, OPF takes complaints at complaints@opf.org.pk.
